Boda Boda, King of The Road

By Evelyn Masaba Here is a thrill that some of our Jovago.com users recommended, it is no ordinary thrill that you will find in the mountains or in the lakes of Uganda. You will find this on the streets of Kampala everyday as you go buy your work. They will wheeze past you in traffic like bumblebees, weaving through traffic with skills that have been mastered over the years of being in the same profession. They always seem too busy or too fast to get to the next destination and sometimes stop by you to ask if you are headed in their direction, they are the boda bodas that have filled the streets of Kampala. Boda bodas came into prominence in the early 90s in Kampala when the city’s population was growing; they are basically regular street motorbikes that are used as a form of commercial transportation next to the taxis or matatus. Best Honeymoon Destinations in Uganda

Image
By Evelyn Masaba Planning for the honeymoon is as hectic as planning the big day itself, everyone wants to go to some place perfect where they can relax and start the first few days of their new journey. Uganda has a number of these places scattered all over the country, even within Kampala itself. Here are a few places some of our Jovago honeymooners fell in love with. Ssese islands Situated Northwest of the lake victoria, these islands will take your breath away; with beautiful beaches and lovely lodges/villas/hotels such as Ssese Islands Beach Hotel that can be found anywhere on the islands, you would definitely fall in love with them all. Banda island is a good place for anyone interested in some old backpacking experience, the islands have a romantic feel to them and all you have to do is relax plus enjoy the island holiday. Jinja   Probably one of the most loved destinations, Jinja has it all; you will even find places for the thrill seekers and adrenal...

Destination Of The Week, Mbale:

Image
Mount Elgon Hotel                     Located in the East of Uganda, Mbale is a bustling town towered over by the mighty Mountain Elgon one of the biggest exntict volcanoes in Uganda. Mbale has a population of over 700, 000 people minus those that are always coming, leaving and passing through. Mbale can also be referred to as the “headquarters” of the Bagisu, a bantu tribe that originates from the East of Uganda. When using public means and heading to Mbale, there are two options; the buses (several available in the bus park located in lower Kampala) or taxis (always get the ones in the park because they don't do stopovers.) Your journey from Kampala to Mbale like all over Uganda will be filled with sights of green and scattered homesteads and water bodies first over the Nile in Jinja then Mpologoma river along Tirinyi road. The journey is an estimate of 4 hours long via pub...
