Why We Should All Embrace The #MadeInUganda Strategy To Market and Sell Uganda To The World.

It is very true that on top of being one of the most beautiful nations on the globe, Uganda has also been picked as one of the most enterprising countries in the world for years now. There is no doubt that the pearl of Africa can become a top attraction as an investment and tourism destination but we have got a role to play to keep this nation in the eyes of the global market.

The first time I heard about Made In Uganda I did not give it much attention just like many of you haven’t but overtime I have come to agree that one of the reasons countries like China, Switzerland, France and the US are known globally is because of the things that they sell to the world ranging from Agricultural products, Entertainment inform of Music, Movies and Sports), Electronics etc. Uganda is a developing industrial hub with both small scale and large scale producers whose products are most times sold within the country and some abroad however these products and services are lacking the major icing on the cake of creating visibility through the Made In Uganda strategy.

Well many may ask a question that why is Made In Uganda such an important aspect in selling Uganda on the world market. My answer is one, that countries like India, Mexico, China and many others are now dominating the markets with services and products made in their countries and it is always emphasized where these commodities come from and this is how many investors are attracted to these countries. Be it music, sports, agriculture, manufactured products and services on top of the tourism and hospitality industry, the made in Uganda strategy can shine a light on all these on the global stage and create a great picture of Uganda the Pearl of Africa as the number one country to visit in Africa and invest in.

Imagine how many people are out there selling and exporting products and experiences made in Uganda but because of lack of a common strategy that brings all such individuals and companies around the globe, Uganda still lacks that visibility on the global market yet we are doing everything to make sure that this country’s name goes out there in a big and bold way. For example; I have on several occasions watched Santa Anzo the founder and Director of Arapapa and the Uganda International Fashion Week showcasing her Ugandan fashion designs in major cities across the world like New York, Paris, Pretoria etc but her works in most times go unnoticed to the global market space because she is there as an individual without a common strategy to support her raise this awareness to the world.

With the latest communication technologies around us, we are able to shine a light on our own products and services to the world through embracing the #MadeInUganda strategy. For God and my country.
