PROSPERITY OR MODERN DAY SLAVERY ?

Image
Blame not my thoughts but the perpetrators of modern day slavery. I am not an Angel and I do not believe in begging for food Everyday. It saddens me and makes want to cry every time  I hear or watch an advert calling on Ugandan Graduates to throw in their papers to go abroad and become drivers and Security Guards in the United Arab Emirates. Every time I remember the 16 years I spent in school not counting the pre-primary school because that I missed. A lot of questions fill my small brain and leave me wondering who has not done enough to save the Ugandan educated youths from the misery that befalls them in search for a better life. Parents spend all that they have educating their children to be better people after school, but only to find themselves selling a plot of land to contribute 4 million shillings to buy an air ticket that will enable their sons and daughters land in foreign lands and become security guards and drivers. Till this day I have never k...

Diageo is a global company, whose products are sold in more than 180 countries around the world. This company is listed on both the London Stock Exchange (DGE) and the New York Stock Exchange (DEO). Its no doubt that Ivan has a great sense of humor with a highly welcoming face that easily makes you forget that he is the Top employee of the Diageo. Commonly known for his phrase "There is no right way of doing the wrong thing" the global CEO could not hold it back while meeting his Ugandan team at Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL). In company of Ubl's GM Nyimpini Mabunda and Charles Ireland the Group Director of East African Breweries (eabl) Ivan fully expressed his business thoughts ab...

Many of us have heard the phrase, "No Man is an Island" this holds more meaning when we get to discover the health benefits of friendships. Mind Leaders Uganda today features the benefits of having friendship lines around us. As it turns out, having friends is not only good for your soul but it’s good for your body, too. In the 2000 adventure film “Castaway,” Tom Hanks plays a character shipwrecked on a deserted island who is so desperate for companionship he endows a volleyball with human qualities and relates to it as if it were his best friend. Wardens of prisoner-of-war camps and penal institutions have long recognized solitary confinement or complete isolation from fellow inmates as one of the most painful, dreaded forms of punishment. Human beings are social animals, and it comes as no surprise that isolation from family, friends, and other members of your “tribe” has a powerful effect on mental health. But in recent years, a number of studies have shown having ...

Image
From T-shirts that track your heart  rate to watches that measure your golf swing, it's no secret that wearable technology is making a big impact in 2015. And that impact is only expected to get deeper, according to Juniper Research, which predicts the wearable technology market will grow to $80 billion in 2020. As personal devices come to dominate the talk of the technology industry, now they're surging into health care. Shifting from self-help to medical help, wearable technology has the potential to make health care more efficient, convenient and effective for both patients and doctors. Whereas doctors normally rely on their patients to tell them how they're feeling, with the help of wearable devices, they will soon know how they're feeling, and possibly even why, before their patients walk into the exam room. Whether a patient is recovering from cardiac disease, or resting a torn ligament, or easing into a new exercise program after an injury, ...
